ASU Ultimate Wins UCI Huckfest
Diablos sweep their way to tournament championship

Arizona State Ultimate opened their season going undefeated and winning the tournament championship in Irvine, CA.  Over the course of two days, ASU went 7-0 and outscored their opponents by 57 combined points.  More impressively, the Diablos offensive line went six games without yielding an opposing team to score against them.  The ASU defensive line broke a strong Long Beach team for seven scores in the championship games, capping a dominant weekend.  ASU also fielded an X squad almost entirely of rookies, who gained valuable experience at their first tournament.  Next up is the first annual ASU Desert Haboob Classic, then the Diablos hit the road for a run at the SoCal Warmups championship in San Diego.

ASU Men take 11th in Region
Stellar year culminates with final tournament

Though they fell short of their season goal, the ASU Diablos still had a decent outing in Morgan Hill at the 2011 USA Ultimate College Southwest Regionals, placing tied for 11th out of 16 teams and holding seed.  ASU was swept out on Saturday, starting with a tight game against #20 nationally-ranked California. Cal Poly then mopped up a disorganized Diablos squad in a forgettable game. Finally, a heartbreaking 13-12 sudden death loss in strong winds to UC Irvine capped a disappointing day.

ASU rebounded huge on day 2 with a dominating victory over UC Santa Clara, breaking seed and pitting them against Long Beach. Again, the inexperienced Diablos squad let a win slip away late with a 13-11 loss.  Despite these struggles, the young team gained invaluable big-game experience, and though we sadly bid farewell to 3 seniors, the Diablos return 19 A-Team players in 2011, including 15 underclassmen.  With a roster chock full of young, explosive talent, ASU is perfectly setup to dominate the region for years to come.

Diablos 2nd in Conference Championship!
ASU headed to Regionals for second straight year

Arizona State Ultimate put together their best performance of the year at the USA Ultimate Desert Conference Championships, punching their ticket to regionals with a 15-2 stomping of University of New Mexico.  In a nearly perfect game, ASU mixed a blistering offensive attack with suffocating defense and got a measure of revenge on a New Mexico squad that has beaten ASU four years running.  The win propelled ASU into their first conference championship title game in five years, falling to rival University of Arizona 15-11. Despite the loss, ASU will head into USA Southwest Regionals in Morgan Hill California, poised to make a run at nationals.
ASU Dominates in Vegas
Diablos notch 6 wins in Sin City
ASU Ultimate made their 6th straight appearance at final Trouble in Vegas in sunny Sin City on March 5-6.  Despite the smaller tournament format than in years past, ASU still put up a 6-2 record and solidly broke seed, finishing 9th.  The Diablos lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual runners up, Claremont, after beating University of California Irvine in an intense pre-quarters matchup 13-11.  In the tournament's last year, ASU put up their best record ever and left with bittersweet memories of the past 6 years of debauchery.
